Frequently asked questions

Below are some frequently asked questions. If you do not see your specific question below, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Should I arrive early to my session?
Yes. For your first session you should arrive 15min early so we can go over your intake form together. Each session after, please arrive 10min early in order for us to discuss how your body is feeling on that specific day and what your needs are for that session.
Will I feel better after just one session?
The goal is always to leave you feeling better after each and every session. Although, the tension you are feeling likely did not appear overnight, it may take multiple sessions to see and feel a real difference in your body. Patience and consistency is key.
Do I have to be naked during the massage?
No. We recommend undressing to your comfortability level. Wearing longer boxers/briefs can obstruct our ability to reach the upper quads and hamstrings. Wearing underwear can obstruct our ability to reach the hips and glutes. While this is true, we still want you to feel comfortable above all, so this is entirely your decision.
Should I workout before or after my massage?
Working out before your massage can be beneficial as it warms your muscles, making them more receptive to relaxation. Working out after your massage is not recommended as your muscles are more loose than normal and therefore more susceptible to injury.
How do I know which modality is best for me?
At the beginning of each session we will discuss your specific needs, which will point us in the direction of a particular modality, or perhaps various modalities. Throughout the massage the therapist may change modalities according to how the tissue is responding. If one modality does not provide lasting benefits, we may decide to switch what we are doing and try something else. The goal is to provide lasting relief, it may take a few sessions to figure out what works best for your body.
Should I take a shower before getting a massage?
Taking a shower before a massage is recommended. A hot shower can relax and warm your muscles, preparing them for a massage.
How should I prepare for the massage?
Drink lots of water prior to your session. Massage stimulates circulation and waste removal from the tissues, being properly hydrated before and after each session will greatly benefit the success of each massage by facilitating the flushing process.
What can I do during the massage to increase benefits?
Focus on your breathing. Breathing during your massage keeps the body properly oxygenated which will greatly benefit the relaxation process and the work itself. This also helps you to stay in your body, leaving the outside world where it belongs - outside of the massage room. When an area is especially tight, deepen your breath to allow for increased relaxation and release.
