Fascia is a type of connective tissue made of an elasto-callagenous complex that creates a three dimensional web extending continuously from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. It surrounds every muscle, organ, nerve, blood vessel, all the way down to the cellular level - providing protection and structure throughout our bodies. The core of the fascial complex is made of collagen and elastin fibers that are pliable, stretchable, and extremely tough - with the tensile strength of nearly 2,000lbs per square inch (crazy right?). Additionally, there is a matrix – or ground substance – that under normal conditions is a gelatinous consistency, transporting metabolic material throughout the body. *Picture a spider web throughout your whole body with a liquid substance surrounding it.* Through trauma, inflammatory processes, poor posture, or simply the weight and strain of daily life, the ground substance of fascia can solidify, becoming cement-like as the collegen and elastin fibers shorten and twist. The fascia will organize itself along the lines of tension that are imposed on it, creating detrimental effects throughout the physical body while also affecting our mental and emotional states. The clinical repercussions of fascial restrictions can be bizarre and seemingly unrelated, but seeing as this complex touches everything inside of us, it makes sense that being out of balance would have unexpected repercussions. JFB MFR works to sink into the fascial system on the body’s terms, allowing the tissue to tell us when it is ready to be accessed. We use a variety of techniques to stretch and move with the tissue, giving the opportunity for the fascial restrictions to unwind and release and the ground substance to return to its liquid, gelatinous state. This intuitive work can change the structure of our bodies - healing ailments of many kinds and returning us into a balanced, centered state of being.

Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle, therapeutic technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system, which is responsible for removing toxins, waste, and excess fluids from the body. This type of massage uses very light pressure, rhythmic strokes and circular movements to encourage the flow of lymph fluid, helping to clear out blockages and reduce swelling. After surgeries like tummy tucks, liposuction, or BBLs, it aids recovery by minimizing post-surgical swelling (edema), reducing bruising, preventing scar tissue formation and other complications such as seromas. It accelerates healing by enhancing lymph flow, removing waste, and improving blood circulation, which speeds up tissue recovery and reduces discomfort. For chronic conditions like lymphedema, this massage promotes fluid drainage, reduces swelling, and relieves discomfort by encouraging lymph flow. It prevents complications, boosts immune function, and improves overall tissue health, making it essential for both post-surgery recovery and chronic illness management.

Craniosacral massage is a gentle technique that targets the craniosacral system, which consists of the membranes, tissues, and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a light touch and various holds, we access the rhythm and flow of cerebrospinal fluid and release any restrictions or tension within the craniosacral system. By addressing these subtle imbalances, craniosacral massage helps improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, which can support overall nervous system health. This modality works to alleviate stress, anxiety, and emotional trauma by calming the central nervous system and restoring balance. CST can also target subtle misalignments in the bones of the skull or neck, which may contribute to chronic headaches. Gently adjusting these bones can help restore proper alignment, reducing the frequency and intensity of headaches, as well as improving neck and back pain.
